| Concept for Living Room 2007 | We designed a cinema room within a basement for the recent Concept for Living magazines' home and garden show. We were given a 3m by 3m shell with just three walls to create a room. We installed a feature staircase with lights in each step, a built in ceiling which housed a screen and projector, a tiled floor and contemporary furniture and lighting. The room was set up to move through three different modes - daylight, mood lighting and cinema mode. In the final mode, the lights totally dimmed, the screen dropped down and the hidden projector played a DVD onto the screen. We received lots of very positive feedback from the show, as our room showed just what you can achieve in a limited space, utilising the parts of a house such as a basement or attic that are often overlooked in terms of design. Professional feedback for the room set Nigel Scott (who has 25 years’ experience in the design industry): “The standard at this year’s awards has been exceptionally high and everybody has made a great effort, making it difficult to choose one winner. “The designers at Emblazon clearly have a lot of experience and have created a really professional looking room set. The viewing levels are fun & their experience shows with this confident design.” Laura McCree (established interior designer & TV presenter): “This is clearly one of the best room sets. The designers know what they’re doing and this has a very professional finish.” To see how we transformed a 3m x 3m exhibition stand to a fully functioning, contemporary cinema room click the images below to start the slide show.
